The community was in for a treat when the Taste of Mansfield held its annual community dinner to celebrate local farms and farmers, along with local food champions and community connections.
The program was initiated to recognize Mansfield producers, sellers, communicators and educators who are leaders in the Mansfield community through local food and have a demonstrated record of promoting the Taste of Mansfield’s mission.
The public had the opportunity to nominate based on the criteria of individuals, businesses or institutions that sell or serve local food or an agricultural product with a focus on Mansfield farms and farm stands, educate customers/clients about where local food comes from through various media or act as a leader and advocate for promoting local food.
The winners of the 2025 Taste of Mansfield Champions were Dominic Shooks, Robert Landolphi and G.M. Thompson & Sons, Inc.
For nearly a century, G.M. Thompson & Sons has been a staple in the community for delivering feed, bedding and more to production agriculture operations and homestead farms throughout the region. The family has operated the store since 1930 and sells everything from straw bales to salt licks, seed packets to chicken coops.
The store also supports other local farm ventures by selling honey and syrup, and serving as a distribution spot for local farms’ CSA when needed."
